Recreating a Logo for a Vehicle Decal

Recreating a Logo for a Vehicle Decal — RedrawLogo guide

A vehicle graphic may enlarge a logo far beyond its old website size. The sign maker needs clear geometry and enough detail about the intended placement to choose the right production method.

Start with a reference and dimensions

Share the best logo file or a clear photo of the existing decal. Tell the provider the approximate finished size and whether the design will be printed, cut from vinyl, or combined with other wrap graphics.

Review legibility at distance

Thin text and small gaps can disappear on a moving vehicle. A redraw should preserve the agreed mark, while the sign shop can advise whether a production-specific version is needed.

Confirm machine requirements

Ask the vehicle graphics company for file formats, color references, and path setup. Artwork recreation does not include wrap layout, installation, or guaranteed machine compatibility unless separately agreed.

Test legibility on a moving surface

A detailed logo can look excellent on a computer and become hard to read on a vehicle. Print a paper proof at the proposed size and view it from several meters away. If a tagline disappears, discuss a separate simplified production variant with the sign maker rather than changing the master logo without approval. Door seams, handles, and panel curves also affect placement, so the wrap designer needs the vehicle template in addition to clean artwork.

Vehicle-graphics handoff details

  • Exact placement and approximate finished dimensions.
  • Print versus cut-vinyl production method.
  • Background color of the vehicle panel.
  • Required format and any limitations from the installer.

Redrawing the logo does not include designing a full wrap or installing the decal unless specifically agreed.

Compare artwork in the before-and-after examples before deciding what your own file needs.

Can a web logo be enlarged for a van?

A small bitmap often cannot be enlarged cleanly. A true vector master is more flexible, subject to the shop's production requirements.
