Printed menus and flyers often outlive their design files. They can show the intended mark clearly, but paper color, printing variation, and surrounding layout can make the logo boundary uncertain.
Scan if you can
A flat scan usually preserves proportions better than a phone photo. If photographing, hold the camera parallel to the page in even light. Send the full page and a detailed crop so the redrawer can separate the logo from decorative elements.
Identify what belongs in the mark
Tell the provider whether a tagline, border, illustration, or background panel should be part of the reusable logo. If multiple editions show different colors, choose the preferred reference.
Plan future uses
A clean master can support a new menu, website, or sign, but each layout still needs its own design work. Confirm with the printer or web designer which formats are useful.
Separate logo restoration from menu redesign
An old menu may contain a decorative headline, food illustrations, and the restaurant's actual logo. Mark exactly which elements should become reusable artwork. If several old menus show different versions, choose one rather than combining them without discussion. Scan at a resolution that preserves small letters, but do not sharpen or recolor the scan before sending it. The original paper can help identify shape even when its colors have shifted over time.
A clear request might specify
- The logo boundary, with a marked crop if needed.
- The correct business name and punctuation.
- Which background elements to omit.
- Known brand colors from a more reliable source than faded paper.
Nutrition, ingredients, prices, and other menu information are separate content and design tasks; a logo redraw should not silently change them.
Compare artwork in the before-and-after examples before deciding what your own file needs.
Can a faded print preserve exact brand colors?
Usually not. If exact colors matter, supply known color codes or other reliable brand material rather than relying only on a faded page.
Ask for a free artwork quote
Send the menu or flyer image and identify the artwork to recreate. We can assess it and reply with a free quote.
