A sticker or product label can be the last surviving copy of a design. Its finish, curved surface, and printing dots can distort the artwork, so photograph or scan it before trying to rebuild the mark.
Record the whole label
Capture the full label for context and a close-up of the logo. A flat scan helps when the sticker can be removed safely. If the sticker remains on a bottle or box, take several images from slightly different angles to reduce glare.
Separate the brand mark
Decide whether you need only the logo or also the surrounding label design. Confirm tiny text, color, and any symbols against other packaging. Printing texture should not automatically become part of the new artwork.
Plan the replacement
Provide the new label dimensions and printer specifications. A vector redraw can help resize the mark, but packaging layout and regulatory text are separate work.
Compare several printed copies
One sticker may be scratched, stretched, or misregistered. If you have unopened products, photograph more than one label and compare the lettering and borders. A straight-on photo establishes proportions; an angled shot may reveal embossed or metallic effects but should not define the base geometry. When the logo sits inside a larger packaging design, mark its exact boundary so the redraw does not accidentally include nutrition text, legal labels, or decorative lines.
A focused packaging request
- Show the full label and a close-up of the logo.
- State whether metallic, textured, or embossed effects should be represented.
- Provide new print dimensions and any supplier template.
- Identify the authoritative color reference.
Recreated art does not automatically satisfy packaging compliance or replace a label designer's production checks.
Compare artwork in the before-and-after examples before deciding what your own file needs.
Will a photo of a curved bottle label work?
It can be assessed, but curvature may distort proportions. A flat reference or multiple photos improves accuracy.
